What the control does
Auto Return to Base carries your character home once an egg is held. The return leg is the slowest part of a manual run, so this is the control that saves the most time.
It is also the control most affected by map changes. If the route home changes, the return can stall with the egg still in hand.
The most common failure
A stalled return is the most reported Miranda problem after an update, and it is easy to mistake for a broken hub.
If the steal completes and the return does not, the hub is partly working. That is a different problem from a hub that never opens.

What shortens the return
Choosing nearer targets does more for a session than any setting.
A high value egg on the far side of the map spends most of the run travelling, and travelling is when a run is interrupted.
